McMaster Creates was born out of a deep passion for building and a desire to give that same opportunity to the McMaster community. Inspired after participating in Buildspace Season 5 - sadly the final season of its kind - I realized just how transformative it is to be surrounded by people who are creating, experimenting, and pushing ideas forward simply because they love it.

So I brought that spirit back to McMaster. Through McMaster Creates, we launched a Buildspace-inspired club focused on empowering people with a simple yet powerful premise: if you’ve got an idea and a willingness to work on it, you’re welcome here. From students making assistive tech to musicians producing EPs, our mission was to support creation in any form, regardless of background, experience, or skill.

The initial response was incredibly heartwarming. We cultivated a space where no idea was too “small” or “out there,” and members quickly took initiative - building things they cared about, connecting with peers, and finding their rhythm.

While Buildspace may have concluded with its final season, the spirit of Buildspace lives on in every person dedicated to building - those who want to take the betterment of the world into their own hands.

McMaster Creates remains a hub for this kind of energy. People continue to work on meaningful projects, support one another, and prove that ideas - even wild ones - deserve a place to grow.
